Floating Echo, Our Buddha

Installed September 9, 2012, in the East River at Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, Queens, NYC, the Buddha of Floating Echo observes the universe around her, bobbing on the waves with equanimity and the crystal clarity of a diamond.
What does the observer see here?  What do we see through the Buddha?  What is reflected back?  Who is observing whom?

Chang Jin-Lee, a Korean-born visual artist who lives in the city, created his 10 foot tall, 10 foot wide inflatable Buddha out of transparent plastic--essentially a Buddha balloon.
As the artist writes, "Its elusive beingness provokes fundamental questions of existence.  Floating Echo coexists and contradicts with nature, material and the Self."

"Floating Echo"....what a brilliant title for a transparent Buddha balloon!
What is the Echo he refers to?
If you want to visit "Floating Echo", it will remain installed either through March 3, 2013 or until it dissolves, deflates or floats away, whichever comes first!
