Snow Lion Publications, based in Ithica, New York, and available online at www.snowlionpub.com offers some of the best books and dharma resources in the world. The website at Snow Lion is so complete, one could spend weeks perusing the teachings, current international news, shop for practice materials & gift items, sign up for weekly Dharma Quotes and Dalai Lama Quotes, get your monthly Tibetan horoscope and of course, find amazing books, DVDs & CDs!
There are always free-bees ( one free offer per order) of things like packets of cards or magazines, books and CDs, you just have to be in the right place at the right time to add them to your cart! Currently one can get for free a copy of Tales Of The Turquoise: A Pilgrimage in Dolpo or a set of Tibetan postcards with the order of another Snow Lion purchase--that's really cool!
Another feature I really like is the "Get Informed Now" button at the top of the Home Page: this gives you access to general information about Activism, as well as specific Human Rights issues to follow, a listing of Appeals for various relief agencies and Tibetan Buddhist Rights groups. If you ever feel as if you've just got to get involved, but you don't know where to begin, this is a good place begin.
Also under this button is "Just For Fun", which is a good idea, but not much actually came up when investigated. Too bad.
Best of all, under "Buddhist Resources" you will find "Dharma Teaching & Articles"! What a treasure trove! You could wander for days in this portion of the website and never be bored...in fact, you would more likely be overwhelmed by the abundance, variety and brilliance of thought and skillful means in communicating the Dharma.
After you've taken care of your mind, check out your horoscope, and then look for "Dharma The Cat" under "Just For Fun"...sometimes you can catch him. Happy wandering.
