Manipura--Food For the Solar Plexus Chakra

Manipura, the Chakra of the Solar Plexus, is the seat of ego identity, personal power, self esteem and self love.  Conversely, it is also the seat of anxiety and fear, if not nurtured.
The Solar Plexus is command central for the metabolic and digestive systems--it's no surprise that anxiety wrecks havoc with the digestive system.  In fact, it's where we usually first feel fear and stress, in the "pit" of the stomach.
Mentally, Manipura governs personal power, emotionally, it creates expansiveness, and spiritually, all growth is channelled through this chakra.
I think of it as a pulsating yellow power house, and oftentimes, this is where I feel the first stirrings of change, of facing a choice, and a gathering of distinct energy.
A healthy Solar Plexus chakra brings spontaneity, energy and non-dominating power.
Here are some foods that help feed Manipura:

*Grains: pastas, breads, cereals, rices, sunflower and flax seeds
*Dairy:  milk, cheeses, yogurt, ice cream
*Spices:  ginger, turmeric, cumin, chamomile and all of the mints

These are all favorite foods of mine, especially during this time of year.  In fact, one Fall and Winter, the year after the children left home, all my husband and I ate for dinner was toast and jam--I'm not exaggerating.  We found dozens of delicious breads, and all sorts of yummy jams, and we didn't worry about a balanced meal.  It was very freeing, in a happy child sort of way!
